Carnival in Brazil 
INTRODUCTION:
Carnival is arguably the most famous annual celebration in the world. It is a time when 175 million Brazilians unite in festivities held all around Brazil. It is a time of great celebration, dance and happiness.
The celebrations happen througout the whole country but the most famous ones are the "Carnival in Rio de Janeiro" and "Carnival in Salvador". This is because of their traditional promotion both inside and outside of Brazil, and the massive amounts people attending every year.
Carnival in Brazil is an explosion of colour and rhythm like has never been seen before. Nothing in Brazil is done quietly and this is this loudest of them all. Be prepared to dance, to smile and jump to the experience that is "Carnaval do Brasil."

WHAT IS CARNIVAL?
Carnival believe it or not comes from a Catholic religious festival celebrating the starting of lent. Where Catholics are not supposed to eat meat for the 40 days until Easter. The name itself comes from the Italian word, carnevale, literally "to put away the meat."
So how did this serious European religious festival become associated with the colourful mix of music, costume and culture that occur every year? We have the African's brought to Brazil to thank for that.
