Situated on the north-east coast of the island, sheltered from the prevailing winds, the InterContinental Resort and Spa Moorea is located voluptuously between the mountains and lagoon.
This idyllic hotel is set in 11 hectares (27 acres) of magnificent gardens which contain 165 different species of trees, plants and flowers. Part of the lagoon in the hotels grounds is home to the Moorea Dolphin Centre. Here a huge natural home has been created for four bottlenose dolphins brought from a similar facility in Hawaii or "retired" from the US Navy in San Diego.
They are lovingly cared for by a scientific and veterinary team and are the stars of a fascinating interactive and educational program. You can learn all about these frolicsome creatures, watch them, feed them, swim and play with them in the comfort of small groups.
