DAY 1
You will be met on arrival in Sao Luis and taken by private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. Sao Luis is known as the Brazilian capital of Reggae and its relaxed culture is seen in the various bars and restaurants that spill out into the equatorial night. Overnight in Sao Luis.
DAY 2
Early transfer to the town of Barreirinhas*, on the outskirts of the beautiful Lencois Maranhenses National Park.
Check into your pousada then transfer to the National Park by 4WD and begin your unforgettable journey of this remarkable natural phenomenon of white sand dunes, rivers, lakes, wetlands and beaches. Visit the Blue and Fish Lagoons nestled amongst the large sand dunes. Overnight Barreirinhas. (B)
DAY 3
After breakfast, take a boat ride up the Rio Preguicas - “River of the Sloth” and visit the Environmental protection area. Continue to Vassouras Beach where you will be free to have a swim and enjoy this small settlement.
Visit the lighthouse at Mandacaru which offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding area, then take a swim in the Atlantic Ocean at the Cabure Beach, washing off in the fresh water of the local lakes. Return to Pousada in Barreirinhas. Evening at leisure. (B)
DAY 4
Morning free. Afternoon transfer to Sao Luis and your hotel. Evening free. (B)
DAY 5
Morning transfer to Sao Luis airport.
* To fully experience the spectacular view that is the Lencois Maranhenses there is the alternative option of taking the air taxi service from Sao Luis to Barreirinhas. Included is a panoramic fly over of the national park, a perfect opportunity to fully comprehend this geographic anomaly.
