DAY 1
Arrival at Belo Horizonte Airport; private transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day free. Overnight Belo Horizonte.
We suggest you take a walk around the beautiful Pampulha Lake which was designed by the world famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Alternatively, relax in a café and discover the local cuisine and warm hospitality this area is renowned for.
DAY 2
Early departure for a day trip visiting the towns of Congonhas, São João del Rei and Tiradentes. These towns to the South of Belo Horizonte are famous for their sculptures created by the physically impaired artist Antônio Francisco Lisboa or “Aleijandinho.” He is acclaimed as being the greatest Brazilian artist of the colonial period. Overnight Tiradentes, with the night free to explore the town. (B,L)
We suggest you visit one of the local restaurants or bars & savour the country cooking of the region, especially the local cheeses washed down by the traditional Brazilian spirit, Cachaça... a local favourite.
DAY 3
From Tiradentes you will pass through the country side to the town of Mariana. This relaxed country town still retains its traditional rhythm and hospitality that the state of Minas Gerais is famous for.
After lunch, continue to Ouro Preto, the jewel in the crown of Minas Gerais. A simply stunning town built in the hills of the countryside it is a living testament to the riches and rebellion that characterised the 18th century. Overnight Ouro Preto. (B,L)
