If Brazil knows how to dance, it’s because the sun knows how to shine there.  Brazil has been blessed with a climate where every season throughout the year brings a new appeal to its different regions, changing the scenery rapidly.

The summer season from December to March is hot and humid. Many Brazilians are holidaying during this time enjoying festivities such as Christmas, New Years and the world-renowned celebration of Carnaval (which falls from Feb 5-8 for 2005) so its best to book early if you are travelling during this time. Easter & the month of July are also busy times when schools & universities have their winter break. August to October are the cooler months, when the climate is generally more pleasant and drier.

The weather in the Amazon is always warm with the rainy season peaking from December to February when the rivers rise and wildlife migrates to higher ground.

Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in the Southeast have pleasant tropical climate, with hot and sticky days in summer and cool nights during winter. The climate in Brazil’s North eastern states is warm for most of the year. The area is tropical and dry. Most of the rain is from April to June.

The Pantanal in the South-West is usually flooded with magnificent vegetation, high temperatures and is the nesting season for a variety of birds from December through March. From April to June and October to November there is a decline in water level bringing fish to the surface attracting a great variety of birds. The best time to observe the wild life is between July and September when the dry season creates  large grazing areas and trees and plants bloom.

Brazil's Geography

Brazil is the 5th biggest country in the world and borders ten countries within South America. The Atlantic Ocean extends for all its east coast and 58% of all the land is forests and woodlands.

The flora and fauna of Brazil are as diverse as its geography. Brazil has the highest number of species of primates, amphibians, and plants in the world, and is in the top five in the world for number of birds and reptile species while the rivers themselves have over 1,500 unidentified fish species.
But Brazil is an enormous and immensely varied country encompassing an area more than 10% larger than Australia.
